hawaii wedding?
My Fiancé and I have decided to go to Hawaii to get married. We have a 2,000 budget for the ceremony another 500 on dinner for 10 guess, including the groom and I. I really want a garden wedding with the ocean as a backdrop. can anyone suggest a good wedding service to use? which island would be best for a romantic setting plus activities for our 10 guess? whats the best time of year to travel to Hawaii? Warm not to hot and not to many tourist? Also, where can we go for a nice dinner afterwards?

- Fabulous! I had a small wedding in Hawaii myself. We stayed at the Waikoloa Marriott Resort (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/koamc-waikoloa-beach-marriott-resort-and-spa/) and had the wedding there as well as the dinner. Now I will admit we had a connection at the hotel so got a deal on lodging, but we had an incredible suite, and I think regular rooms are reasonable. Their catering/sales department was very helpful in finding an officiant, arranging the ceremony, etc. It was on a grassy spot near the ocean and we had plenty of beach front for sunset pictures. Everything at that location was great. I've been to HI many times and Kona on the Big Island is my favorite spot. Plenty to do and plenty not to do. Jun-Sep is hot, but there is always a breeze. The weather is pretty darn good all year round. One tip, you need to get the marriage license in person at least 24 hours before the ceremony. You need to make an appointment at the local office. Congratulations.
- I'm getting married in Hawaii too. We're not doing a beach wedding so I won't be much help, just wanted to suggest that you should post your question on the "Hawaii knot board": http://talk.theknot.com/boards/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=73&MsdVisit=1 The girls there are super helpful and sweet. They'll definetly be able to give you some suggestions on venue's although you might want to check out Paradise Cove, you can get married there then have your "reception" dinner there afterwards; it's a luau. The luau dinner part would be more open to other people, but it's lots of fun and has many activites. Germaines is another luau on Oahu. Island wise, I'm partial to Oahu since I grew up there (live on the east coast now). There's nightlife, tourist attractions (Diamond Head, Hanama Bay, Pearl Harbor, North Shore), history, etc. But you really can't go wrong with any of the islands.
- I'm getting married in under 2 mos in Hawaii. We really wanted Maui but it's a little more expensive I think. We're staying at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel: http://www.kbhmaui.com/ I've heard of people driving 1 1/2 hours from where they're staying to other wedding planners on the Island. Our hotel performs ceremonies as well. Ours will cost $1,180. We meet in the lobby. It comes with the coordinator, the Minister, the photographer, a DVD slide show of all photos, 24 4x6's and 2 8x10's, fresh flower leis, a Hawaiian prayer & chant, and a Ukulele serenade. We don't have any guests but they do accommodate guests w/ chairs, receptions, etc. July is expensive. Maybe you could do November? Keep in mind that airfare to Hawaii is crazy now because of Aloha Airlines going bankrupt & several other factors, cost of gas. We're paying $1900 for the 2 of us from LAX to Maui. Definitely look into the hotel I chose. It was voted Hawaii's "most Hawaiian hotel" and I've read really great reviews on it. Our cost for 5 nights is $2300 . . . BUT we upgraded to ocean front & chose the Island Romance package. It comes with excursions, dinners, breakfast every day, etc. You can easily do their Aloha Value Package for much less. It has a garden view & you'd need to rent a car but it's a great deal. Also, go on Trip Advisor. I posted questions in the Maui forums & people were SO helpful. They gave me suggestions on hotels, flights, wedding planners, everything. Here. I put you on the Hawaii forums since I'm not sure what Islands you're considering: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g28932-i36-Hawaii.html
