How do I plan a Maui Wedding next Spring when I live in California today?

My fiance and I want to get married in Maui on February 16, 2007. We both live in California. How do we find a venue? Should we hire a wedding coordinator? Are their options to the overpriced resorts and hotels, like a beach-side or tropical garden location.

1. get a wedding planner in Maui. You need someone local, to help you. you can do almost all of the meetings on the phone (although I would make at least 1 trip to see the venue ahead of time)
2. I would hire a wedding planner or see your travel agent they are really good at stuff like that. Sounds nice goodluck to you both.
3. Lots of people do this. I was actually thinking about doing this and when I did the research, I went to two particular sites. They make it very easy and affordable and get everything set up for you: www.dreamweddingshawaii.com or www.wedaloha.com
4. Go to www.theknot.com and click on destination weddings, they will tell you all the legal requirements plus give you choices on resorts, venues and even suggest wedding planners. I used that site and found it to be the best. Hope it helps!
