Marriage Hawaii

What is the best resort in hawaii?

In the exception of Waikiki, which I've heard is very crowded. I'd like to get married at the resort and mainly what I'm looking for is one with an amazing views for the small wedding like mountains or cliffs or the whitest beaches. Never been there and there is WAY too much stuff on the internet about hawaii weddings so I'm looking for someones personal experience.

  1. "Best" is kind of in the eye of the beholder, but I think one can call any of the beach resorts on any of the islands best. They are all pretty neat. May I suggest that instead of searching for hawaii weddings, you search for hawaii beach resorts or maybe even better, do it by island.
  2. I have stayed at all the places below: On the island of Oahu, the best "wedding" resort in my opinion is the Kahala Resort. They have a wedding chapel next to their (fairly) private beach. It is in the wealthy enclave of Kahala, less than 10 minutes east of Waikiki and Diamond Head. http://www.kahalaresort.com/ If you don't necessarily have to get married at the resort itself, there are two venues I think are spectacularly gorgeous, I've seen a lot of weddings at both, being favorites with the locals. The first is a drop-dead tropical garden and lake, and the other is a simple rustic chapel in the entrance to the rain forest that backs Manoa Valley. Both are directly next to restaurants that do catering. http://www.haikugardens.com/ http://www1.usw.salvationarmy.org/usw/www_usw_hawaii.nsf/vw-text-index/765bc629748e1ec9882574c70002478c?opendocument (run by the salvation army!) On the other islands, there is a lot of variety: * Your best bet may be the island of Kauai if a beautiful tropical setting is what you are after. Princeville near Hanalei on the "tropical" side of Kauai comes to mind. The resort has been made into the St. Regis (I think that is still Starwood, right?), is re-opening after major renovations. It is situated on a cliff overlooking Hanalei Bay rather than the beach. This area is where they filmed "South Pacific", "Thorn Birds", and many scenes from "Jurassic Park", and is the most "south seas like Bora Bora or Tahiti" in Hawaii. http://www.stregisprinceville.com/?PS=PS_aa_Hawaii_Google_princeville_resort_092808_NAD_FM * The one problem with Hanalei is the reason people go there: all that wonderful lush tropical greenery exists because it rains a lot. If you want a less lush but "drier" location, Poipu Beach on the other side of Kauai has a truly gorgeous beach. Here, you should check out the Grand Hyatt: http://kauai.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp * For something REALLY different, if you want to get married in a "jungle" setting near the beach, you can check out the famous Hana-Maui Resort on Maui. Negative: It takes a few hours to get here, along the famous "road to Hana" which hugs the sea cliffs through a rain forest where there are tropical waterfalls at almost every turn in some places. http://hotelhanamaui.com/ * Finally, for a "fantasy" hotel on a beautiful beach, you should check out the Grand Wailea in the Wailea resort area on Maui. Fountains, lush courtyards, and of course a beautiful beach. http://www.grandwailea.com/ * On the Big Island, it is all about 5-star luxury resorts in Kahala or Kailua Kona. Wonderful and exotic, but these are spread far apart by miles in the middle of black lava fields along the water, probably not what you are looking for.
  3. I would say the Ihilani and The Kahala hotel.
  4. Grand Wailea Maui. Its beautiful, romantic and has a white beach with clear water. It has a chapel overlooking the ocean you could get married on but the beach is beautiful there and perfect for a wedding. The Grand wailea is pricey but so worth it.I know they do lots of wedding there. The views are amazing. They have great accomdations too.Very elegant and comfy guest rooms. .And they have many attraction such as many pools with waterslides and an amazing spa!
