Marriage Hawaii

Do you have to have a marriage in the state that you are getting married in if you live in another state?

I live in TN and have thought about getting married in either FL or Hawaii. Do I have to obtain a license in that state in order to be legal?

  1. You only need one license from the state (or country) where you are going to be married. We live in Kansas, but we were married in Kansas City, MO. We have a Missouri Marriage License but are legally married in any state, any country.
  2. Yes, what ever state you get married in you must have a JP or Judge of that state marry you or a clergy of that state.
  3. i live in michigan but got married in Florida (Islamorada). All u have to do is apply for ur marriage license in Florida. Do it 3 days before your wedding day.
  4. My wife lived in Kansas and I was in California when we were married. We only needed a license from the state we were getting married in.
  5. Your license has to be from the state you are getting married in. Go to that state's license bureau web site for the rules and regulations.
