Marriage Hawaii

Girls, do you still have big wedding fantasies?

I am almost 30 and when I was about 20 I was SURE that i would be married with kids by now. Naturally, I now think this is insane and am not close to either and the idea of a big wedding leaves me feeling ill. I was recently in Hawaii for Christmas and it was comical how many weddings we witnessed. We saw on average 3 brides a day, and it all seemed a bit silly with their big dresses and tiaras and the fanfare etc etc

  1. im 16 and i dont dream of my wedding, some people think its unusual
  2. Join a dating site. Its actually worked for a few of my friends. And yes, I do have big wedding dreams :)
  3. Don't worry your normal. I do dream about my wedding, i want it to be great. But if i find the man of my dreams i don't care where we marry
  4. yes but we dont have enough money
  5. Honestly, I've never wanted a big wedding, even when I was really young. It all seems like such a big waste of money...it's about the bond between bride and groom, not about how many tiers the cake has or how close the reception is to a beach. I don't want the whole rigamaroll that comes with a huge wedding...less stress and more tight-knit that way!
  6. I used to when I was young...but not anymore. Although I'm still young 23, I just don't see the point of a big fantasy wedding.
  7. yeah doesn't seem like girls think about it much anymore... it's probably more of a dream for guys now, i know it is for me at least... not the whole putting it together part... but the part about actually doing it and having a girl of my dreams. what happened to women? tisk tisk.
  8. yea i have fantasies about a wedding but these day boys lie and you cant trust not of them
  9. I'm 16 too and not even sure if I wanna get married
  10. I used to when I was younger as well. But the older I get, the smaller my "dream" wedding becomes. At this point, I am only inviting close friends and relatives.
  11. i dont think its silly to get big dresses and go all out for your wedding.. it should be a once in a lifetime thing and its sacred. a beautiful day to remember for tha rest of your life. im def gonna go all out for my wedding. :)
  12. You're so lucky to have gone to Hawaii for Christmas. No, I never had dreams of big weddings. Maybe when I was really small but I really don't see that in my future unless I marry a rich guy ;)
  13. i like small wedding
  14. I am 23 and I always thought that I would have a huge wedding but now that I think of it why would I do that for? I would much rather have a small intimate wedding and safe hundreds of thousands of dollars that I would spend on a huge wedding for something important like a house or too put in savings. I have two kids so I am more realistic I guess you could say.
  15. Yes i do all the time. My dream wedding is in the Cayman Islands with the man of my dreams. Nothing fancy something simple immediate family, then one for everyone to see where we live. I want a simple dress, barefoot, and him in white pants white shoes and a white tux jacket. And i wanna ride in on a white horse. And before i told my bf about what I have always wanted from a wedding he had the same idea!
  16. I never wanted a big wedding. I had 25 people including me and my husband and that was 21 people too many in my opinion.
  17. I think the main idea behind having a big wedding was always as an incentive to stay married. With all of the money spent on the wedding, the bride and groom would give second and third thoughts to throwing that all away over some stupid troubles they might encounter while married. And they'd also try to make certain they were marrying the right person in the first place.
  18. What would be more sad than a 30 yr old woman in a big wedding dress that was white trying to look like a princess? Nothing could be more pathetic. Some people spend 30 grand on a wedding and live in apts. How repulsive.
  19. I don't anymore. I'm 21 and have a 1 year old son living with his father. We've been together for almost 2 years now but not married. Waiting has took my fantasy away.
  20. I'm 23 and the idea of getting married (and big weddings) is horrifying for me. I live near a large, beautiful park and see the done-up wedding goers every now and then, and I agree with you that it does seem sort of silly. Like grown-ups playing princess games or something. I'm in a long-term relationship and have specifically told my boyfriend that I do NOT want to get married.
  21. I personally feel that its not the big wedding, its the life commitment that should take the front seat. The wedding is done and over, its the restof the stuff that really important, if thats what you want. Its your life , live in your moment, when someone is worthy of sharing that... you'll know. Forget about the wedding....step back and broaden your perspective.
  22. I'm 23 and would love a big wedding. I've been with my bf for over 3 years and he can't even stutter the word 'wedding' or 'engagement'. So looks like i've got a very long wait inhead of me ;(
  23. Ever since i was little i remember having conversation with my sisters about our dream wedding, and we would always say we wanted the big white dress and extravegant food with an amazing cake. And i still personnally dream of this big fantastic wedding of mine!
  24. I still do want a big wedding.. But I do admit that as I grew up some, the reality of a big wedding set in.. The cost is outrageous.. I want to have a classy elegant wedding with somehow not spending too much... lol
  25. im 16 and dnt dream of a big wedding, or a wedding at all, i dont wanna get married or have kids tbh but then again, i never really wanted a big wedding, even when i was younger lol which most people think is very strange lol
