Weddings in Hawaii - have you been to one or had one? Let me know.? Hey there, just wondering... Hawaii seems like a beautiful destination to get wed at. I am from Australia and was curious about Hawaii weddings - how much do they cost, how are they orgainised, and personal reflections. It would be great if I can see some photos from your wedding in Hawaii (if that does apply to you). Thanks in advance.
Weddings in hawaii? location, packages? I'm maid of honor for my best friend who wants to get married in Hawaii, does anyone know of any good websites where we can look into packages and locations? She def wants a beach wedding and we are looking at about 50 people attending, so we also need hotels and all that. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! She is planning to invite about 75, but of those 75, about 50 would definitly come, at the very least about 40. they both have huge families.
Sweet Hawaii Weddings - Need help ASAP? Has anyone used Sweethawaiiweddings.com before for their wedding in Hawaii. I have not been able to find any bad reviews on them and I need to know if they are reliable before I book with them.. Thanks.
What is the best resort in hawaii? In the exception of Waikiki, which I've heard is very crowded. I'd like to get married at the resort and mainly what I'm looking for is one with an amazing views for the small wedding like mountains or cliffs or the whitest beaches. Never been there and there is WAY too much stuff on the internet about hawaii weddings so I'm looking for someones personal experience.
hawaii/virgin island weddings? my husband and i were married on 2/16/09 back home in upstate ny. he is active duty army, and when he returns from his deployment from afghanistan, we would like to have our dream wedding. does anyone have any good information on weddings in hawaii or the u.s. virgin islands? thanks in advance! we do want an actual wedding since we got married in a courthouse two weeks before he deployed.
Did anyone do one of those destination weddings? Just the two of you in Hawaii on the beach? Do you have any regrets about doing it this way? I am considering just going to Hawaii and getting married on the beach with my sweetie... I wish friends and family could come... but no one will really be able to. I would prefer a simple deal... and I like the idea of a sunset beach ceremony. We've been together for a long time and I've just never been into the whole big wedding thing anyway. What do you think?
Anyone use 'turn-key' wedding planners in Hawaii? I am looking to have a destination wedding in Oahu, and I'm trying to find out what experience people have had with the 'turn-key' wedding planners. My friend got married in Maui with one, and she thought it was very professional. Here are some that I'm looking at: Wed Aloha http://www.wedaloha.com/hawaii_wedding_packages.html A Hawaii Wedding http://www.ahawaiiwedding.com/index.html Paradise Weddings http://www.paradiseweddings.org/index.htm Hawaii Barefoot Weddings http://www.barefoothawaiiweddings.com/index.htm Treasured Moments http://www. treasuredmoment.com/ Thanks to all help.
What type of flowers are these? I was wondering what type of flowers these are... are they orchids or plumeria? If they are orchids what type are they? Thank you! O and I'm wondering about the ones in the sand thank you. http://www.alohaislandweddings.com/Hawaii_weddings/blue%20and%20green%20hawaii%20wedding%20theme%20ceremony%20with%20beth%20and%20brian.jpg
Is it appropriate to recommend attire for weddings on the invitation? Some people in Hawaii really don't know how to dress for weddings. We would like to recommend to our guests to dress in semi-formal or Filipino formal attire (barong for males, Filipina dress for women). We didn't want the men to have to come in suits so a dress shirt and tie would be OK. We also want them to come in slacks rather than khakis.
Wedding Cost in California? Ok so i know weddings in California are expensive, but how expensive? I've looked on line but not everything gives me prices. So i look at hawaii weddings and it does seem alittle cheaper but my family mostly my grandparents cant really travel because of their age and plane tickets. So i am confused if i want a destination wedding or a church wedding with a reception. So everyone is waiting on me for a wedding date but i just dont know. If you have any advice and can give me an example of what a wedding cost that would be very helpful. I dont want to spend a lot of money. I know its wishing for too much but i dont want to go over 10,000.
Can you have two weddings, each one in a different country? The reason I ask is because, my fiance and I plan on marrying in Hawaii with no friends and family as Hawaii means a lot to our relationship (its where we live, met and fell in love). However we would like to have a second wedding ceremony in my home country, Scotland UK, so that our families and friends can join us. Is it possible to do this?
what is the tradition for mexican weddings? I want to get married to my gf I am from the united states but my girlfriend and her family live in mexico. They are from the state of Señora. What is the tradition for weddings? Whose family pays? I'm trying to figure out how to work this out. I havent proposed yet but we have talked about. Any suggestions. Where should I have the wedding? My family all lives in the usa in the west coast, Oregon, montana, Hawaii, I live in San Diego and my girlfriend lives in Tijuana, Mexico. Her family lives in Soñora and Mexico city.
How would I go about looking up destination weddings? My fiance and I want to avoid all the stress of planning a reception, so we figured we would like to have a destination wedding. We were thinking about Hawaii, Vegas, Colorado, or Napa Valley because we have to stay in the U.S. because he's in the Air Force during war time. Any tips would be great!
Best location for catholic church weddings? A friend of mine would like to get married either in August or November depending on the availability of the church and the place of reception. She isn't catholic but is in mid classes at this time which may be important depending on the church's requirements. She is looking primarily in U.S., exluding Hawaii and Alaska. She is unfamiliar and has asked for help.. but I am not sure where to look either.
my boyfriend and i want to elope and get married in new york....? or that was the plan till i saw the wonderful weddings in hawaii. we live in Austria, and just the trip to hawaii is about 3000$ a person, not including hotel or wedding package (which is VERY cheap, round 400$). now, we don't have that kind of money and so this will lead us to the original new york plan. Any suggestion about a romantic wedding in new york for just the 2 of us in december around christmas ? the ticket there will be just arond 600$ so we can spend more on the "wedding".. Thanks!!
where are some inexpensive wedding venues in Oahu Hawaii? I was wondering if people had recommendations for inexpensive sites, more so a garden or gazebo type weddings.. I saw Above Heavens Gate with captain Howie which was extremely cheap but I had read a review that he got pissy and charged to have your own photographer. I don't want to ruin my day because he isn't happy that we didn't use his photographer. He is charging $2,000 for 100 photos.. I don't think so. Thanks
I keep hearing more about Destination weddings. What is the point? Other than to be sure 'only the right people' come to your wedding. Where I grew up, weddings are a community event. If my wedding was in Hawaii or where ever, so many of my friends would not have been able to be there. What is the point....and WHY ON EARTH would anyone want to share their HONEYMOON with anyone? It is supposed to be a time to get to know each other- or is that pointless since chances are the bride and groom have been sleeping together- and probably living together? What's the point of getting married then anyway? I have a friend who has gotten TWO invites for destination weddings- and was informed she'd have to pay $2000 for the one in Hawaii...and $800 for a cruise. ( for two people) Of course, that doesn't count the gift! We now CHARGE for the privilege of attending a wedding?
Best places for destination weddings? My husband and I are going to renew our vows in a couple years. We want a place that we can vacation to, with our four kids and hold a ceremony while there. We aren't able to afford places over seas, or even Hawaii, so please don't suggest pricy or elusive places as such. Are there any unique lodges in the west, or estates in the south that offer a memorable stay for all ages? My kids will be 8, 6, 5 and 3.
Married by Above Heaven's Gate in Oahu? Looking to be married my Captain Howie with Above Heaven's Gate Weddings in Oahu, Hawaii.. has anyone used their services before and could give me a review?
Intimate weddings- would you have one with a really tiny guest list? (or have you had one)? Hey there, My fiance and I are considering to get married overseas, Hawaii or Las Vegas (not drive-thru). As we are from Australia, and that is a fairly far from America - we were thinking of only inviting our close families. In total that is 18 adults and 3 children (as we will be paying for their flights). Do you think with such a small guest list, the wedding ceremony might not look nice? Thanks =) Could I see photos, if avaliable, of your small intimate wedding?
tropical weddings question? i'm getin married on angel beach in Hawaii next march (2011). i'm just wonderin does anyone have any info on tropical weddings like this one? like are they nice, romantic so on...cheers! xxx
Traditional Hawaiian romance/wedding/propsal info? Does anyone have ANY INFORMATION on ancient customs of Hawaii regarding romance, weddings, and wedding proposals? ESPECIALLY proposals. How is it traditionally done? Is there a dowry, does the groom ask the father, etc. (Oh, and how it's done with Hawaiian royalty too). And I'd love it if things could be answered such as...did they kiss in Ancient Hawaii? Hold hands? Was being lovey done in public considered "Taboo"? Any information you know or find is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. Thank you!
Destination Wedding in Hawaii!!!? I am getting married in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sept 23, 2010. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or suggestions when it comes to destination weddings and/or Honolulu? Is there anything specific I should remember to pack for the wedding?
Is having a wedding at the Four Seasons in Hawaii (Kona) "all that"? My fiance are getting married in October in Kona, Hawaii, and we are wondering if it's worth paying $7,500 for a wedding at the Four Seasons. You can get wedding coordinators and similiar weddings at other locations for as low as $500-$1000, so is the Four Seasons just a big rip-off? Also -- has anyone had their "reception" or dinner at the Four Seasons after their wedding? We're thinking of doing the Family Dinner on the Beach where the chef cooks out on the beach right there in front of you. Just curious. Any personal experiences would be great! Thanks in advance ...
My wife doesn't want to be a bride's maid in my siblings weddings. I tell her if she's asked she should. help Both my brother and sister are getting married next summer. My wife and I are a bit older then my siblings. My wife says she doesn't want to hang around with a bunch of 20-something year olds (which the other bride's maids are). Basically she doesn't want to do it because she doesn't feel like she has any connection to them other than through me. So she told my sister that neither I nor her would be in the wedding. Now my brother has asked me to be his best man, but again my wife said she wasn't going to be in the wedding. I told her that she's being rude by not being in their weddings, especially since she's already excluded me from my sister's as well. We did not get married in a church, so we didn't have a wedding party (Hawaii on the beach at sunset... only us). Shouldn't family member be in a wedding party when asked? Both my brother and sister are getting married next summer. My wife and I are a bit older then my siblings. My wife says she doesn't want to hang around with a bunch of 20-something year olds (which the other bride's maids are). I told her that she's being rude by not being in their weddings, especially since she's already excluded me from my sister's as well. We did not get married in a church, so we didn't have a wedding party (Hawaii on the beach at sunset... only us). Shouldn't family member be in a wedding party when asked? Added note: my parents offered to pay for our attire for the weddings since we are in the process of building a house and a bit straped financially. My parents offered to pay for our attire for both the weddings since we are building a house and are a bit straped for cash at this time. So money is not an issue. My wife has been using my sister's driveway to park for the past three years when she goes to work (my sister lives directly across the street from where my wife works). It has saved her hundreds of dollars in parking fees and time (since she doesn't have to rid the shuttle to the remote parking area). You would think that my wife could be courteous and oblige my sister's wish for her to be in her wedding party. Also, my sisters through my wife a bridal shower before we left for Hawaii. My wife says that it wasn't to her liking that they didn't put enough of "her" into the planning, so she refuses to be a part of these wedding. In my opinion, she is acting very immature. As I told her: I can get a new wife, but I can't get new siblings. (Just a little immaturity back at her)
beach wedding in massachusetts? i live on the border of NH, And Mass i would love an inexpensive beach wedding and need a lot of ideas. every time i search for a beach weddings it goes to Hawaii or Mexico, i need a new england beach wedding. i know there will be a lot of renting involved and i understand new englands weather but i just need some really good reception areas any help !??
Beach-themed parties and weddings - tacky or not? My step-daughter is flying in for the summer and our 7 year anniversary will happen while she is here. On I whim I thought it would be a great idea to have a beach renewal ceremony (we eloped) and the reception at the beach park and then take all the kids camping. I don't really want anything big and I am in the military so my family and friends are far from Hawaii and can't afford to come on a whim (timeline is in a few weeks). I want to dress all the little girls up in flower girl dresses and be a bride for a day and take lots of pictures. My wedding party is made up of children. And the only guests that will be there are my mother and my son's god parents. And since it will be in a few weeks I can't really do very much budget-wise. Would it be terribly tacky to line the aisle with beach balls, seat the guests in beach chairs and umbrellas and have a totally beach themed party and maybe coming to shore on a kayak. The wedding dress and flower girl dresses will be short in length and light (the weather will be around 90 degrees and it is on the beach in Hawaii). The groom and my 13 month old son (the ring bearer) will be wearing light khaki pants or shorts and a white short sleeved button down. Shoes are optional and no formal dress code. Then have the reception at the beach park and rent a bounce house and have a BBQ. Afterwards, let my mom have the beach cabin and take the kids camping at the beach? After buying one of those brides magazines it sounded cheap and tacky but I thought at first it sounded cute, simple, family oriented and outdoorsy (and a little romantic). Which is exactly how we are...what do you think?
state requirements for witnesses at weddings? Hey everyone, So my fiance and i have talked about having a private ceremony and then having a big reception with our family and friends. I have heard you don't need witnesses in Hawaii, but i cant find any other state requirements. It is important to me to have it be the two of us, for personal preference and also to prevent issues over who is going to actually be the witnesses. Does anyone know the run down on state by state regulations on witnesses? I don't really want to get married in Hawaii. I am asking if anyone knows of other states that don't require a witness. thanks guys! I found that in Colorado you don't need witnesses but also you can perform your own wedding! I am very excited about this!!
Spend a night in a local hotel before our honeymoon? I was talking to my boyfriend the other day about weddings and honeymoons. We both want to go to Hawaii but he thinks we should leave the wedding to catch the plane. I think we should spend the night at a local hotel and leave the next day. I don't want to spend my honeymoon night on an airplane and he wants our first time as a married couple to be in Hawaii. What do people normally do?
Wedding planners for hawaiian destination wedding - local or destination planner? My partner and I would like to have a Hawaiian wedding and we have decided to use a wedding planner since we are not based in Hawaii or the U.S. (we live in Toronto, Canada). We were thinking of hiring a planner based in Hawaii, but a friend recommended hiring a planner here who specializes in destination weddings (she recommended Luxe Destinations). Has anyone used wedding planners for a destination wedding? If yes, did you use a planner based at your destination or a local planner with experience in destination weddings?
Girls, do you still have big wedding fantasies? I am almost 30 and when I was about 20 I was SURE that i would be married with kids by now. Naturally, I now think this is insane and am not close to either and the idea of a big wedding leaves me feeling ill. I was recently in Hawaii for Christmas and it was comical how many weddings we witnessed. We saw on average 3 brides a day, and it all seemed a bit silly with their big dresses and tiaras and the fanfare etc etc
Am I wrong to want to go with or without him? I want to go to a wedding in Hawaii in Sept. My husband hates weddings and doesn't want to save the money to go. Am I wrong for wanting to go without him? It's my best friends wedding. I went to high school in Hawaii. He has never been. I also missed my 10 year reunion.
I want to cancel my wedding!!? My parents are driving me to the point of no return. My parents & I have not had the greatest of relationships, they were pretty awful to me growing up. They did offer to pay $7,500 for a wedding, no more, and give me the down payment on the house we are renting from them. Yet while my mother has already had two weddings (she renewed her vows in Hawaii a few years ago) she trying to control every single aspect of my wedding. They have said to me, my fiance, vendors, family, that "since they paying for it, they decide" on everything about the wedding. Right now, she has not spoken to me for almost 2 months, because she has decided to start the reception 45 minutes after the ceremony ends, when it takes 30 minutes - go there, and my photographer said we needed that time to take photos. We and the family in the pictures will ahve to miss an hour of our own reception! Our ceremony cannot be any later than 2pm in KS, and I always wanted to have an evening reception, and she moved it from 5pm to 3:30!! I am so mad I can't think straight, and so is my fiance. Now, all family from both sides are from out of town, they are not going to skip the reception; what they are worried about is THEIR friends not coming. They have invited over 20 of my dad's coworkers/their friends to the wedding, when we were trying to have (& they said they could only afford) about 50 people - now it is up to 65, yet they are saying that we need to cut costs elsewhere to make room for their friends! They said they will no pay for the invitations if it does not have the EXACT wording they want, they will cancel the reception if we don't keep it 3:30pm, they canceled our string trio to make room in the budget, and is making us pay $500 towards our photography, which we cannot afford. The worst she did was sign up to pay $1,400 (!!) towards an open bar, when both sides of the family don't drink - it's for their alcoholic friends!! She has been nasty to me in front of vendors when I try to say what I like if she doesn't like it, she tried to control what flowers I chose for my bouqet, that the flowergirl dress I like is ugly (when she is not even paying for it!), doesn't like the vest choices for the groomsmen, etc etc etc. She even tries to boss around my fiance's mother & tell her where/what to do for the rehearsal dinner. Any time we protest, they say they are the "hosts" of it, and that I am being a bridezilla, and that I am getting my way. I have not been able to decide a single thing! All this wedding plans got started from their insistance - we wanted to get married next fall, but they said we should buy the house from them, & get the new $8,000 tax credit. And my dad said he would not sell the house to us unless we were married, and the credit was good only until December of this year. Well, we found out 3 months ago that if the sale is between family you don't get the credit. By then downpayments had already been put down for the wedding. So we feel we were forced into this from the beginning, and I knew that something like this would happen. I cannot afford to pay for a wedding or the downpayment, but I feel like I cannot trust them not to ruin the wedding or follow thru on their promise for the downpayment. The last straw was a couple weeks ago when she embrassed me in front of family & said that she has decided not to give me my great-grandmother's ring to use as wedding band, when she promised it to me 4 months ago. We cannot afford the wedding band that goes with my engagement ring, the $500 for the photography, the normal expenses a bride/groom have to come up with, & a honeymoon in 4 months. Because of all this I don't think we can afford to go on a honeymoon. All of this because they rushed us into this wedding. Their vindictiveness, their screaming, I cannot take it anymore. This was supposed to be the happiest time of our lives. I want to have a nice wedding, but I feel like it is a show for their friends, and that my dreams & feelings are being completely ruined. What should I do? P.S. Just FYI, I have been living on my own for 9 years, we just moved into this house because it was an investment property for my parents, and I was tired of living in apartments. They have their own house. We pay them rent, which covers the mortgage. I also didn't want to cancel it because my parents would bad-mouth me to all my family, saying I am just a selfish brat. Plus, so many people have already booked their flight/hotel.
wedding problem with parents? My mother is driving me to the point of no return. My parents & I have not had the greatest of realtionships. They did offer to pay $7,500 for a wedding, no more, and give me the down payment on the house we are renting from them. Yet while my mother has already had two weddings (she renewed her vows in Hawaii a few years ago) she trying to control every aspect of my wedding. She has said to me, in front of my fiance, & in front of vendors, that "since she paying for it, she decides" on things she does not like that I pick out. Right now, she has not spoken to me for 3 weeks, because she is trying to cut down the time between the ceremony & the reception from 2 hours to 1 hour, when it takes 20 min to get there, and my photographer said we needed that time to take photos. Now, all family from both sides are from out of town, they are not going to skip the reception; what they are worried about is THEIR friends not coming. They said they will no pay for the invitations if it does not have the EXACT wording they want, & they will cancel the reception if we don't move it up an hour. She has been nasty to me in front of vendors when I try to say what I like if she doesn't like it, she tried to control what flowers I chose for my bouqet, that the flowergirl dress I like is stupid (when she is not even paying for it!), doesn't like the vest choices for the groomsmen, etc etc etc. All this wedding plans got started from their insistance - we wanted to get married next fall, but they said we should buy the house from them, & get the new tax credit. I cannot afford to pay for a wedding or the downpayment, but I feel like I cannot trust them not to ruin the wedding or follow thru on their promise for the downpayment. And now she has turned my father against me on this issue too. I want to have a nice wedding, but I feel like it is a show for their friends, and that my dreams & feelings are being completely ruined. What should I do? Thank you so much for all your responses! They are really helping. Just FYI, I have been living on my own for 9 years, we just moved into this house because it was an investment property for my parents, and I was tired of living in apartments. They have their own house. We pay them rent, which covers the mortgage.
Should we spend our wedding night in a local Hotel? I was talking to my boyfriend the other day about weddings and honeymoons. We both want to go to Hawaii but he thinks we should leave the wedding to catch the plane. I think we should spend the night at a local hotel and leave the next day. I don't want to spend my honeymoon night on an airplane and he wants our first time as a married couple to be in Hawaii. What do people normally do?
I got an invitation for a Mormon wedding. Any gift suggestions? I am Christian, and not really familiar with the Mormon weddings. Love the family and the wedding would be in Hawaii, but we live in California. Would not be able to attend, but love to buy a gift for the lovely couple. Your ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sorry, but would really appreciate a respectful answer. Thanks.
Can someone give me some WA state outdoor wedding sites please?!? well to cut to the chase of a long story me and my hubby want to have the proper wedding we didnt get to have. we wanna have it in washington cuz thats where all his family is but there are a few complications. i live in hawaii and have only ever been to washington state twice neither of which had anything to do with weddings. another prob is my husband is currently deployed so he cnt really help with the planning so please please please give me some ideas! i need farely low priced outdoor wedding sites for the month of nov. he is from marysville if you could maybe keep in that "general" area. can anyone help me?!?
Has anyone used www.sweethawaiiwedding.com before? My fiance and I are trying to plan our wedding in hawaii, we are staying on oahu. everything seems great on the web page, we are thinking of doing the 'romance in paradise' package. I am not looking for anyones negative comments about how destination weddings can be selfish. we have family coming and a few friends. we are not asking for gifts, we already own our own home and we dont really need anything. ... but back to my question. i really am looking for a company that does the whole thing...chairs flowers photos...etc. any ideas would be much appreciated! thanks
Wedding Dilemma? I was planning on getting married at Disneyland and just recently I got really sick of them nickle and diming me that I am to the point that I dont even want to have a wedding anymore. I dont want to get married at the justice of the peace either. What should I do? I was thinking of taking our immediate familes to Hawaii for a ceremony or having a ceremony at the beach here in California. Do any of you regret having small weddings? Or do any of you that are having big weddings wish you would have kept it small and saved the money? I just keep feeling like I am spending $20,000 on a 4 hour event. Any suggestions??? I dont really have $20,000 that is why I am asking. My Fiance wants something small because he has a small family. Whereas, I am the only child and have a large family so I am torn between what I really want versus what everyone else, including my fiance want.
Marry in Spring or Fall? Ok so my fiance and I are planning our wedding but we cannot decide on a spring or fall (early oct) wedding. I really wanted red and gold to be our colors for the fall wedding. Or should we do the spring wedding, we plan on going to Hawaii for our honeymoon. What are the pros and cons of the fall and spring weddings?
Wedding craziness...I don't know what to do!!? Ok, I will try to make this as simple as I can. 1: I'm getting married! :D 2: Both my fiancee and my families live in several different areas, and both of our immediate families are divorced. Here we go: We both live in New Mexico, USA, and so does both of his parents and all of his family, they are all just kind of dispersed around the state. His parents are divorced. My mother and sister also live in New Mexico, the same city as we do. My father lives in Seattle, Washington along with many of my friends. All of my extended family on my mother's side (and this is a huuuge family) live in Quebec, Canada. All of my extended family on my father's side lives overseas in Wales and England. What the heck am I to do?! Multiple weddings? That would be expensive, but I suppose we could save up.. One big destination wedding is out of the question, I hate when people are invited to weddings but they have to pay to go to Hawaii, and paying for so many people would be suuper expensive.. We also have to keep in mind the divorced parents. I really do not want to mix my mum's family and my dad's family, they do not get along at all, so I guess that automatically creates two weddings to plan. Ugh. I do realise it is mostly my family that is the problem, I'm just looking for different options concerning locations/costs/ideas/etc! ps: We do want to have an actual wedding, not elope, although that is a good option for this situation. pss: Thanks everyone so far for the great answers! :)
"dumb" wedding questions --- just wondering? I am not married so don't bite my head off! I went to one wedding when i was a kid (i'm in my 20's now)...i always wonder these things: 1. are the parents of bride or groom still expected to pay for the wedding or is that old fashioned? 2. when u send invitation to whomever do u always assume they will bring a guest/date or is the invite just for 1 person? do people ever go to weddings alone? 3. okay, after the couple leave the reception and go to lets say Hawaii for honeymoon - do they leave right away? does she wear her dress on the plane, to the hotel lol... 4. kids - can u have a wedding with all adults? what about guests that have kids - do u have to invite them? 5. do u have to have open bar? is it tacky n' cheap if you don't? 6. maid of honor - is her dress supposed to be different from the other bridesmaids? how do u choose maid of honor I have 1 older sis and 2 female best friends 7. is every 1 invited to the wedding invited to the reception lol - thanks *an add on to Question 4 - is it considered rude NOT to invite the kids?
Getting Harassed By My Mother....advice please.? Ok so we are getting married on October 17, 2009. I was talking to my mom last night and she started harassing me about even having a wedding (this is my 2nd his 1st). She said it is not proper for me to have a wedding and that I should just get married and have a big party. May I remind you this is his first wedding he wants a wedding we want to celebrate with our families. Then we got to talking about wedding registry. She said because I have already been married I should not register. She also says I should not have a bridal shower either. I told her fine I won't he will! BTW my mom lives in Hawaii and me in California. My mom supports me in my decision to marry him but not the wedding itself. It hurts that I can not talk to her about this. Is she right? What do you think? Oh btw my sister is getting married in April (she also lives in hawaii). And no my mother is not helping either of us pay for our weddings. BTW my mother has been married 3x. 1st marriage no clue if they had a wedding. 2nd marriage huge wedding. 3rd they got married in a chappel in Reno, NV with just family.
Is a destination wedding a good idea? My fiancee Sarah and I recently got engaged. We are both in our late 20s. But since we just bought a house (she lives in it, I'll move in after marriage), we don't have much money for the wedding. We want to do a small wedding, but my Mom is upset because she has 7 brothers and sisters, and she wants all my cousins to come. She keeps adding to the guest list. To complicate things, my fiancee's parents (Detroit), my parents (Battle Creek), and we (Mount Pleasant) all live on opposite sides of Michigan. Both sets of parents are arguing that the wedding should be near them since everyone is 3 hours apart. My fiancee's parents invited us on an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii with them. The trip is only 6 months away. With all the planning stress, I looked into beach weddings and there is a wonderful chapel that we could get married in. It would only cost us $500 and it is exactly what I want. Sarah and I are excited about possibly getting married in Hawaii, but my Mom is angry because she cannot afford the Hawaii airfare ($1300/each) for the family. I'd like to help, but I am not in the financial position at this time. All around wedding planning seems like a mess. How do couples handle the family factor with destination weddings?
Little black dress to a wedding? Ok? Hi, I am going to a wedding in New Orleans next week. The family is catholic with a heavy Guam, Philippine, Hawaii influence. The rehearsal dinner is a lou ou (may have misspelled that). Do you think a little black dress would be ok? Its my boyfriends family and he is clueless. All of my wardrobe is black/white and I do not know if I need to go shopping. I know black is ok at my families weddings, but I do not want to embarrass my boyfriend... Anyone know the rules for southern catholic weddings? Thanks, A
Has anyone had a destination wedding? If so, how much are the usual costs and breakdown of costs? Me and my boyfriend are trying to buy a house by next year and we want to have our wedding the year after and so we only want to spend a little for our wedding since we are going to be responsible for paying monthly mortgage. My friend told me that destination weddings are cheaper than traditional weddings. How true is that and if it is, how much is the usual cost if we want to have it in Hawaii? Please help. Thanks in advance.
Help, not sure what to do...PLEASE read? Ok, I got engaged last month (Nov. 5th). We have told our entire family that our wedding will be on Oct. 17th and that things were going to be tight because of everything (including the wedding) coming up this next year (I am in 2 weddings, having my own wedding and going on a honeymoon). So my sister called me this morning to tell me her bf proposed to her last night (She lives in Hawaii and I live in Nevada). She said they are planning their wedding in April. I told her I would not be able to afford the tickets out for her wedding. And she said well we are not like you we don't want to wait a year. That was the end of the conversation. I was out there last month and she was talking about breaking up with him (btw she is 28). So now the financial help I was going to get from my dad he says he can't help because the money will go to my sister first. It is not about the money at all though. I just feel hurt. Like my wedding doesn't matter to her. We are seriously considering moving our wedding off another year. Please I need some encouraging words or suggestions please. FYI, I did not ask my dad for the money. He just suddenly offered. Not a large sum (our wedding is 30 people max and we are budgeting 5000.00). My dad offered 1500. and now he can't do that mostly beacause the cost of the trip to hawaii for my sisters wedding. It has nothing to do with him offering money for her wedding over mine.
What's the Difference Between Committed and NSA? i've been hooking up with this guy for 3 years. the people in weddings were slurring at me. he only has sex with two women, me and her. I was with him before he met her. he never told me he had a girlfriend until 8 months ago. (that was about 1.5 years after he started dating her and 2 years after he started hooking up with me) he just told me last night that he's getting married because the girl he's been with for 2 1/2 years might be deported to japan if she doesn't have residency. the economy shut down teh school she was attending. she doesn't want to leave hawaii. i asked him if that meant we'd have to stop having sex. he said no that it's not a real marriage, they're just going to the courthouse. he says it doens't eman anything. i made fun of him about and he wants to keep it the same between us. but if he gets married and i continue to meet him every week for sex..........that makes me a homewrecker? and risk losing one of my best friends?
What is this...I've never heard it part of a wedding? I was just on a site that was telling people's wedding stories and this is what I saw... Venues: St Fransiscus Church; Beach reception on Renaissance Island Hometown: New York City Wedding Date: July 26, 2008 Bride’s Dress Designer: Demetrios Bridesmaids’ Dresses: Butter dress by Nadia Florist: Provided by the hotel Photographer: Diana M. Lott Photography Wedding Coordinator: June Jones Honeymoon: Island hopping in Hawaii Trash the Dress Location: Various spots along the North Shore of Aruba Rob & I decided we wanted to do something different. We had gone to a bunch of weddings recently and wanted ours to be unique. After visiting Aruba in January of 2007, we fell in love with Renaissance Island. The Renaissance Aruba Hotel owns a small island ten minutes by boat off the coast! The boat picks you up from the lobby of the hotel and brings you straight there. My question is...what the hell is with the "trash the dress location"? I've never heard of this before.
oh sh*t he's getting married and i'm still doing this? he's getting married and i'm still doing this? i've been hooking up with this guy for 3 years. 9 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer. the people in weddings were slurring at me. he only has sex with two women, me and her. Has anyone gotten married in the poconos? I am thinking of taking next monday off to look at the properties at Caesar's in the poconos. They have something called champagne weddings, and said you can get married anywhere on the property. Has anyone does this? Is it nice? And what property is the best one? From what we have seen, they ALL have good and BAD reviews on tripadvisor, but we will only need to stay 2 nights (night before and night of wedding) if we do our wedding here, then we will be off to hawaii for our honeymoon. **if anyone has pics your or another wedding here I would love it! Thanks in advance! :)
My sister keeps stealing my ideas for my wedding for hers!? So my sister lives in Hawaii. She is getting married in May (she got engaged in Dec) on the beach. Her original colors were lilac and white. When she went bridesmaid dress shopping she changed her color to burnt orange. My problem. I am getting married in October. I booked my site before her, selected my flowers and my colors. My colors are burnt orange, brown and ivory (just hints of brown and ivory). My main flower is an orange calla lilly. She had an appt with the florist this weekend called to tell me what flowers she picked out and I almost started crying. Her main flower....an orange calla lilly. That is my main flower. I refuse to tell her anything else about my wedding because she is taking all my plans and making them her wedding! That alone is stressing me out and bringing me to tears. I told her that was my flower and she knew my colors were orange, ivory and brown. She told me my mom and dad and step sisters will be the only one at both weddings and no one will notice. I didn't say a word back. I felt like I was going to be sick to my stomach so I just got off the phone. Am I wrong for being upset about this? I know I am not the only person in the world to have those colors and flowers...but why did she have to copy me!
Im having a hard time making a decision about our renewal of vows.? Well we know were going to go to Vegas.. We know we want an Elvis impersonator the renewal. What were having a hard time deciding is the type of ceremony that we want. Weve found some really great packages. Traditional: Long dress, tux, photos, first dance, toast, cake Blue Hawaii: Wear really loud hawaiian shirts, barefoot, and a hula girl. Pink Caddy: Ive never ridden in a pink caddy before. Well it's gotta be with Elvis. We want something, fun, unique, romantic. Just the two of us. No family will be invited. And please I don't want to hear that is so "tacky" comments or you had your day comments. Our wedding day was a disaster, and I cried for most of it. Anyone out there have any positive experiences in Vegas they would like to share? Ive been to few weddings there, and they were all elegant, tasteful, and well put together.
